SONGWRITER MENTORSHIP PROGRAM
In this program, the applicant will work with a co-writer and/or producer to develop and record one song, which the applicant will then release and promote.
Eligible activities include: writing, producing, recording, and marketing of one song. These activities must be detailed in a Songwriter Mentorship Plan, which will be submitted to Music Nova Scotia as a required element of the application.
Prior to submitting an Application, all prospective Music Nova Scotia Investment Program Applicants must update their Applicant Profile. If you do not have an Applicant Profile, you must first complete and submit an Applicant Profile form. Please select the appropriate link below. ONCE YOU HAVE UPDATED/CREATED YOUR APPLICANT PROFILE YOU MAY FILL OUT AN INVESTMENT APPLICATION
With your application, you must submit:
- A streaming link of Assesment Track & Assesment Track Lyrics.
- Your Assessment Tracks must be original songs or compositions, and they must meet Music Nova Scotia’s MAPL requirements for Canadian content.
- Songwriter Mentorship Plan
- Marketing Plan for Song Release
At the end of the Songwriter Mentorship project, successful applicants are required to deliver to Music Nova Scotia one new, previously unreleased, professional quality sound recordings, called the Delivery Track.

Artist General, Artist II, Artist III
Other parties such as artist managers, producers and music publishers may fill out the Application on behalf of applicant; however, the Songwriter/Aritst must be the named Applicant.
Level of Investment – $3,000.00 maximum per Applicant per Deadline
Percentage of Investment – 75%
